How to Minimize Wrinkles Naturally

By

A Wrinkle in Time...

Just to clarify before you begin reading, I'm not a beauty expert, but I am very fair skinned (freckles and all) and have had immense experience with the avoidance of the sun. I'm also slightly obsessed with minimizing and reducing wrinkles. Keep reading for tips...

By now everyone knows that wrinkles are caused by the loss of the skin's elasticity, mainly due to gravity, age, and UV rays. Also known, are the ways to un-naturally minimize wrinkles through Botox, Laser, or Plastic surgery. But what if you're an eco-conscious person who feels that these highly invasive techniques may have long term consequences that are unknown? Or, you have a serious dislike to the disadvantages of these procedures, i.e. facial movement is limited or the surgical appearance seems artificial? What other options do you have?

The best option is to immediately begin wearing a high SPF moisturizer (30 SPF or higher) on a daily basis, even in the winter. Most of the UV rays absorbed by skin happen on an everyday basis, not just one summer at the beach. Also, if you are not yet 40 years old, you have only absored half of the UV rays over your entire lifetime. This means you still have plenty of time to begin protecting your skin now. The higher the SPF, the better. And, if you are spending an afternoon at the beach, you need to continue reapplying the moisturizer throughout the day.

Some complaints about moisturizers with SPF are that they are greasy or don't wear well under makeup. Today's formulas are highly improved and, usually after trying a few different brands, a non-greasy version can be found. One day-to-day moisturizer I have found that isn't greasy is Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, SPF 30.

Another excellent way to minimize exposure to UV rays is to wear a brimmed hat. Not only are you protecting your skin, you are also protecting your eyes. You'd be amazed at how much better you can see in bright sunlight with a little shade protecting your peepers.

You may not be able to undo all the sun damage to your skin with these tips, but starting now, you can limit the amount of damage and minimize the wrinkles to come.

Little house, all this talk against the sun should be somehow accompanied by a warning: we all desperately need vitamin D and only the sun can give it to us.

This is not small matter. They say that the ONE thing people with all sorts of cancer have in common is ... the lack of Vitamin D.

I recommend to use instead of sun blockers EMU OIL, it protects tremendously and also erases your wrinkles.

You wanted a comment now you have one.

Enjoy the sun!

Thanks Rosario, I've heard of Emu Oil before and I know it has many beneficial uses. I didn't know it could help with sun protection, yet still allow you to soak up vitamin D. In my case, I am so fair, I burn within 5 minutes without any protection.

thanks-

Little House, if you follow the elemental rules of common sense (to expose yourself gradually when Sun starts to rule, in the Spring, or even when you go to snowy clear skyed country) and you have protected yourself with a coat of emu oil (that absorbs quickly) you would be surprised to discover that you can become tanned like a star without burns. After sun exposure you might want to put some more, you'll see the results ...
